It’s all just fun and games…

Tom first learned to cue at a college party, when his friend Suzie McGlone casually introduced him to Cued Speech. That spontaneous moment sparked a lifelong commitment to language access, transliteration, and cueing education.

Since 1989, Tom has worked as a cued language transliterator. He also works as an instructor, mentor, and transliterator educator for Language Matters Inc. He teaches cued British English each summer in France. He is also a founder of the Académie Internationale Soutenant les Adaptations de <<Cued>> (AISAC), which oversees the adaptations of Cued Speech to the world’s languages.

Tom believes learning should be fun, purposeful, and deeply engaging. Whether he’s teaching a class or cueing in a professional setting, he’s known for using meaningful examples, thoughtful games, and a strong commitment to true access for deaf consumers. Language has always been a passion: in addition to his work with LMI and LM@, Tom is a certified speech-language pathologist and teaches graduate-level phonetics at the MGH Institute of Health Professions.

He hopes his students leave his classes not just with knowledge—but with a sense of excitement about what they can now do.
