Claire Klossner, TSC
Committed to Long-Distance Relationships
Claire first learned to cue in 1982, when her family attended a Family Learning Vacation at Gallaudet University to support her twin cousins—one of whom is deaf. She was seven years old at the time, and the experience set her on a lifelong path of supporting access and equity for deaf children and cueing professionals.
Claire has worked as a certified cued language transliterator in nearly every setting imaginable, including K–12 schools, universities, government offices, business environments, and medical settings. She has taught Cued Speech at the graduate level at Gallaudet University since 2005, and has led cueing and transliterating courses across the country through Language Matters since 1998.
As one of the founders of Language Matters Academy, Claire has been instrumental in converting the in-person CLTPES curriculum into a robust online training program. She continues to develop new e-learning offerings for LM@ each year and serves as one of the main instructors for the CLT Online Training Program. She holds a master’s degree in Distance Education and E-Learning, which she pursued during the pandemic to ensure that online learners would have access to high-quality, interactive, and ethical training—especially those who may not have in-person options.
Claire believes anyone can learn to cue with the right teaching, and that online learning can be just as powerful as any classroom. She brings a deep commitment to quality, ethics, and learner support to all of her work. Her goal is for students to leave her courses not only more skilled, but more confident—knowing she’s in their corner.
